BAUMANN joined the VDFI for a plant visit to Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH

Recently, our Head of R&D, Martin Oschwald, and Strategic Project Manager Jasmin Werra joined more than 40 representatives from the European spring industry for a plant visit to Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, organized by the Verband der Deutschen Federnindustrie e. V. (VDFI).

Offering firsthand insights into steel production – from the blast furnace and steel plant to the galvanizing line – the visit was much more than an interesting factory tour for BAUMANN.

Steel wire and strip are the foundation of many of our springs, stampings, and bent components. The better we understand how these materials are produced, the better positioned we are to support our customers with expertise, quality, and innovative solutions.

As manufacturers, it's easy to focus on our own processes. But real innovation often starts with understanding what happens long before a material reaches our production floor.

The experience also provided valuable opportunities to exchange ideas with peers across the industry – an opportunity to share perspectives, discuss challenges, and explore ideas shaping the future of our sector.

Because the better we understand the entire value chain, the better we can create solutions for our customers.
